At Mortgage Light, our team is the heart of what we do. With a mixed dynamic of skill sets to cover all bases, we cater for all aspects of the mortgage and assurance market.

Mortgage Light started in January 2011 when Owner & Director Siobhan Holbrook left the world of selling properties behind and decided to set up her own brokerage.

Siobhan’s new-build background and years of experience in the property industry left her with an understanding of the importance and effects mortgage services have on people’s lives. This sparked a passion and a vision of building a business based on clear and simple bespoke advice with customer service at the forefront, helping customers move swiftly with minimal stress and delay.

This is why when you choose Mortgage Light, we work closely with you to not only advise on the best mortgage options for your situation, but explain what these mortgage options mean for you and your future. And because we are recognised by banks and building societies as providing a good valued service, we are able to offer bespoke products that are not always accessible elsewhere.

FAQs

Do I have to use a mortgage broker?Expand

No, you don’t have to use a mortgage broker. It is possible to approach lenders and undertake the process yourself. However, we would only advise you to do this if you have an extensive understanding of the mortgage market. Without a good understanding, you could end up with an unsuitable mortgage product which could potentially cost you a lot of money in the long run.

Is Mortgage Light a whole of market broker?Expand

Yes, we have access to the whole of the mortgage market. We are not tied to certain lenders, which allows us to find the right mortgage for you.

Why should I use a mortgage advisor instead of a bank?Expand

There are many benefits of using a mortgage advisor instead of going directly to a bank or lender. Firstly, you could potentially get a cheaper and more suitable mortgage deal than if you went directly to a bank or mortgage lender. This is because we have whole-of-market access with visibility of deals that you wouldn’t be able to otherwise access.

We will also know which lenders are most likely to accept your application, vastly reducing your chances of getting rejected, which could set you back in the long run.

What are Mortgage Light’s fees?Expand

Your consultation, discussion and agreement in principle with us will always be free. If you decide to use our services, we charge a £349 application fee, £199 for a remortgage and £495 to organise a buy-to-let mortgage.

How long does it take to get a mortgage with Mortgage Light?Expand

We understand the timescales that are imposed on buyers and we work alongside you to try and make the transactions as smooth as possible. We aim for all mortgage offers to be issued within a 7-14 working day timescale, as long as we are in receipt of all the documentation that is required.

I live outside of Milton Keynes - can you still help me?Expand

We will offer advice to anyone, no matter where your location. That being said, we predominantly service the areas in and around Milton Keynes and the South of the UK.

Free Initial Consultation

All of our brokers deal with the whole of the mortgage market. It doesn’t matter what the question or when you want to speak to us, we have brokers available on the phone or face to face seven days a week. Whether you are just thinking of buying a home and have no idea where to start, a seasoned investor or someone looking to better your current mortgage product, we are happy to help andchat over ideas free of charge.

So we can give you plain and simple advice we will run through some basic questions to help us tailor products to suit your needs. Upon us taking your application forward we will write to inform you that we have given you advice and give you a Key Facts Illustration breaking down the important elements of the product and the fees involved.

For us to take your application forward to a lender we charge an upfront administration fee of £349. For our returning customers looking to renew their mortgage product this fee reduces to £199. We also receive commission from the lender.

A fee of £349 is payable on application of the mortgage. We will receive commission from the lender in addition to the fees you pay. Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage. You may have to pay an early repayment charge to your existing lender if you remortgage. As with all insurance policies, conditions and exclusions will apply.
